Great Preparation for Qualifying School

Great Preparation for Qualifying School

This week I played really well and finished 2nd at the Arizona Women’s Open

I was planning on playing in the Arizona Open to prepare myself for third stage of the LPGA qualifying school. The Symetra Tour ended in September and this tournament would be great for me, so I could keep playing competitively in the two months between second and third stage. However, after second stage a lot of time was spent moving from Maryland to Arizona and adjusting to the new surroundings. While I kept practicing a bit, the big move along with the search for a golf course here in Arizona, definitely took some time away from practice. Therefore, I didn’t have the biggest expectations going into this week’s tournament.

Sometimes no expectations can be good, because you play more freely. Whether that was the case for me this week or not, golf just seemed really easy. I made very few mistakes (only two bogeys over the three rounds), and when I did my short game came to the rescue. The result was rounds in 69-68-68 for an -11 total, my lowest 3 day tournament total in a year. It felt great shooting 3 rounds under par and being so consistent. The score gave me a second place finish which I was very happy about. Going into the final day I was two shots behind the leader who shot a 66 on the final day to get that victory, so it was very well deserved.

Now the distractions of the move and the search for a home course here in Arizona are over and I have two weeks to prepare before heading to Florida for the final stage. After this week my confidence is high and I am really happy that my game is looking so good. Hopefully I can keep it up and make it a successful trip to Daytona Beach :)
