Getting Closer

Getting Closer

Now we are done in Hawaii after an amazing trip! We had a few days before the tournament started to be tourists in Waikiki and had a blast. We arrived Friday and all afternoon we were shopping around and getting to know the place. Our hotel was just a 10 minute walk from the beach so naturally we also got to spend some time down there.

Saturday morning my two teammates Alejandra and Katerina and our assistant coach Kyle went for a run on the beach. The weather was so perfect during our entire stay and it was so great to run by the ocean while the sun was rising. Had to pinch myself so many times during our trip to make sure it was real! We then went to practice on the course and headed back to lay by the beach all afternoon and swim around in the ocean -and that felt amazing! Dinner was followed by fireworks on the beach and more shopping. Saturday we went for another morning run and jumped in the water after. And then I guess we had to focus on what we came to do – play golf. We played the practice round where a lot of pictures were taken. 3 of the holes are directly out to the ocean (on the other side of the island than our hotel) and it was so pretty! At night we got treated to a really nice Hawaiin dinner at Hula Grill by the ocean once again!

And then came the tournament. We played 36 holes on Monday which was a lot of work in the heat! Mentally I felt a little off, just playing along without really fighting for it or wanting to win. That resulted in two rounds of 74 which felt bad but still had me in 7th place. The next day however I realized what I needed to work on mentally and I played really well. The wind picked up a lot out there and at times it was a really hard golf course. I finished in 73 which was tied for the best score of the day, and that gave me a 4th place finish. So I feel like I’m getting closer :) The team did great shooting +7 for the day which was the best score of the day by any team so we climbed to the 4th place as a team.

Overall it was such an amazing trip where I had so much fun with my teammates. It felt like a vacation and Hawaii is definitely not the worst place to be! I will have to go back sometime soon! See a few pictures from the trip on my facebook page (click on link of the front page). Mahalo :)
