Getting Better

Getting Better

Good news from the spine surgeon and hopefully just another few weeks of treatment till I am back on the course playing again.

It has now been four weeks since I hurt my lower back at the gym, but unfortunately there is no quick solution for injuries like this one. Two weeks at the chiropractor did nothing for me so in need of more answers I went to get an MRI of my back. Turns out I have a protrusion/bulge in one of my discs which is the bad news. The good news is that it is not the protruding disc that is causing my pain but the muscles in my lower back. In other words I am looking at weeks in physical therapy instead of month, so I am very excited about that!

I have already started on the physical treatment and it feels great finally being in the hands of someone who knows what my problem is and knows how to fix it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that by the end of next week I can pick up my clubs again and start practicing. I am way too active to relax as much as my back wants me to, and not playing golf definitely isn’t paying the bills, but at this point I have to listen to my body. I am going a little bit crazy with all this down time, but I get to pay attention to things I normally wouldn’t have time for, so trying to make the best of it :)

I have had to pull out of next week’s Symetra Tour tournament in Decatur and will likely have to pull out of the following week’s tournament in South Bend too. It is a huge bummer, but I am hopeful that I will be ready for the New York/New Hampshire swing starting in the second week of July.

Meanwhile, here in Phoenix it is not an issue staying warm with degrees just below 110, but I am hoping everyone is enjoying the start of summer.

All the best,
