Cold Putter

Cold Putter

It has been a frustrating tournament where I have hit the ball really well but not really gotten anything out of it. My putter has been pretty cold, not making anything outside of 3 feet. Especially on the final day where I hit 16 greens in regulation, 12 of those within 15 feet, and ‘only’ shot 1 under par. The good thing is that I am hitting the ball really well, so hopefully I can keep that up. Some hard work with my putter should be able get it back on track soon.

As a team we had a lot of fun about this new ‘birdie bonanza’ program that my coach has started. It is a way for people to get involved and help the team out. Anyone can sponsor any one or several players on the team with a given amount per birdie (this amount can be anything from $1 and up). So for every birdie we make during tournaments, we get some support from people outside the program. It is a great idea for people to get more involved with the program and it is also a lot of fun for us players. It seems like we all want to make more birdies :)

It was fun to play one last time at Boulder Creek, and great to get some support from people out there. Actually we even got to see Eric Toliver who is in charge of NCAA compliance for all UNLV athletes. It has taken four years to get him out there, so that was quite the accomplishment!

Naturally I didn’t end up as good as I had hoped, but it is hard to shoot low without making any putts. Considering that my scores did not really reflect how I played, I am pleased with another top-10 finish. Now I am looking forward to go to Hawaii and make lots of birdies :)
