Dominican, Symetra Tour, Cactus Tour, and a new coach – it’s been too long since my last blog, so here is a much needed update

Since January, I have gotten all moved into an apartment in Arizona and so far I love it here. The state is made for golf and gives the term ‘winter’ a whole new definition. Practicing in 70+ degrees and sun sure makes it more enjoyable than the Danish alternative. A few days were spent in Arizona in January before I headed to a pro-am in the Dominican Republic. I spent a full 6 days there, four of them playing golf on the most amazing course right by the ocean, and the other two on the beach and on the water. I had a great time and really enjoyed getting a few vacation days – a few pictures from the trip can be seen below.

Back from the Dominican, where I struggled with my game, it was time for the season opener on the Symetra Tour in Mesa, Arizona. I was hitting the ball well, but 3 month without tournaments sure left me rusty before the season opener. Despite having worked a lot on my short game I had no touch around the greens and especially my putter was off when the tournament pressure came around. I was hitting a lot of good shots, but the missed greens turned into bogeys and too few birdies were made, which unfortunately led to a missed cut by 2. So far I have had a perfect record on the Symetra Tour with 15 made cuts out of 15 tournaments played last year, but it couldn’t last forever. Now it will just be my mission to make it my only missed cut of the season!

Despite having worked a lot during this off season I clearly had some way to go to get completely ready for tournament play. Luckily, I could play in a Cactus Tour event on my home course at Wildfire Golf Club this week, to kick me more into gear. Thankfully, I finally found some of my old game and got my routines in order. I played a good tournament finishing 5th out of 58 in a score of -4 total. It felt great being back in red numbers and feeling that my game is shaping up!

Despite a rocky start on the Symetra Tour this year, I am excited for a hopefully great season ahead. Also, to get me there I have found a new coach here in Arizona, Jeff Ritter, who I am really excited to be working with. Now a lot of practice lies ahead as always and it will be fun to keep working on my game and hopefully keep improving :)

Thanks for following!
